The Lewis & Clark Conservation District will be hosting a Soil Health workshop on September 17, 2014 in the Helena Valley. Two local landowners who are utilizing cover crops in their cropping and grazing operations, Tim & Jim Dusenberry and Karl Christmas, will be presenting. There will be a discussion on soil health, field tours and a panel discussion. Lunch will be provided.
A new technology used by Jim & Tim Dusenberry, called BioActive Emissions, will be featured. It harnesses the exhaust from a tractor and injects it into the soil. It helps the producers increase profits by reducing the need for commercial fertilizer and increasing yield by enhancing soil health.
