Plots: this garden does not function as a traditional community garden, and plots are not available for rent.
Location: behind the Providence Center, 900 North Orange Street
Located behind the Providence Center, on your way into the city center of Missoula from Highway 90, the Providence Garden grows food and health. The garden’s raised beds and crushed granite paths are fully wheelchair accessible, and the garden includes herbs and medicinal plants that enliven smell, touch, sight as well as taste.
The garden grows food for the Missoula Food Bank and others in need in town. It also provides a place for staff, patience, and the public to come garden, rest, heal, and feel healthy.
Garden City Harvest builds community through agriculture by growing produce with and for people with low-incomes, offering education and training in ecologically conscious agriculture, and using our sites for the personal restoration of youth and adults.
Each of our community gardens provides participants with a 15 by 15 foot plot, tools, water, compost, straw, common space and the knowledge and guidance of leadership committee members and the Garden City Harvest community gardens staff. With these resources, and a little bit of persistence and patience, gardeners cultivate food for their family (and often their friends, too).
