AERO hosted an Ag Task Force meeting on February 15th in Whitefish with our new Ag Task Force co-chair Pam Gerwe, of Purple Frog Gardens. We learned about the great food system work happening in the area by organizations such as Farm Hands and Nourish the Flathead, and received updates on outcomes from the 5 Valleys Food & Agriculture Summit by staff of Lake County’s Cooperative Development Center, as well as updates from Kalispell’s FoodCorps volunteer. We also discussed AERO’s Food & Ag work, including the 2012 launching of the Jane Kile Memorial Fund, a redeveloped Abundant Montana local food directory, and brainstormed ideas for this year’s farm tour sites. The conversations were rich and informative – stay tuned for information about our next Ag Task Force meeting, tentatively scheduled for late spring in Bozeman.
