AERO is once again accepting applications to the Jane Kile Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is open to Montana residents who are active stewards of Montana lands, a farm or agricultural operation, and/or their local community food system. The scholarship will grant $600 to one recipient, along with a one-year AERO membership and a ticket to our annual Expo Conference and Annual Meeting in 2023.
Jane Kile was a long-time friend of AERO and a pioneer in Montana’s organic farming and community-supported agriculture movements. A respected teacher, conservationist, community activist, she was an advocate for the sanctity of all life on earth, and appreciated kindred spirits who rolled up their sleeves and participated in finding solutions. This scholarship, endowed by Russ Salisbury, honors her energy and commitment to building a more sustainable future for Montana.
To help you get inspired, our 2021 scholarship recipient, Heather Snell, created this video to share about her work on the Fort Peck Tribal Community Garden. She received a scholarship to construct a new greenhouse to support season extension and experiment with new crops. Watch video here.
Applications must be submitted by November 18, 2022. We will announce the recipient on December 1st.
