In honor of Native American Heritage Month and the closing of our 21-Week Racial Equity in the Food System Challenge, AERO is proud to be providing a FREE screening of the documentary film Gather (link below).
Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide.
Montana carries a deep and formative Indigenous history; one that is often overlooked and ignored. All the while, Indigenous contributions to formulating human relationships between ecosystems and food ways are indispensable and imperative to not only the foundations of agriculture in this country, but also to its future. This reality isn’t exclusive to Montana, the interior west, or even the United States. Indigenous agriculture and food systems pre-colonization carry a global impact.
We invite you to join us in this opportunity to observe, learn and celebrate the ways Indigenous peoples across our country are building resiliency, restoration, and recovery of their culture through food sovereignty. Celebrating indigenous peoples’ survival and resilience is essential to acknowledging a fuller truth than that of the myth / partial-truth / settler perspective of the first Thanksgiving story during this holiday season of gratitude.
Screening link is now live. Click HERE to watch (until December 13th).
